At Greystar, the health and safety of our residents, team members, and communities always comes first. It is this belief that continues to guide our actions as we navigate the quickly evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

  • Temporarily closing amenities such as fitness centers, pools, business centers, and other common areas to reduce the risk of exposure and promote social distancing
  • Enhancing our already rigorous cleaning and sanitation protocols in all common areas
  • Promoting responsible personal hygiene practices in common areas including proper handwashing and covering coughs or sneezes
  • Providing flexibility for team members who may feel ill so they can stay home instead of coming to work
  • Closely monitoring guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and other government entities in real-time to inform operational decisions that safeguard the well-being of our residents and team members, alike.

We understand all our residents have been impacted in various ways, and we would like to offer resources, answers to questions, and other valuable information to assist as we all navigate into the future.

  • Our maintenance teams follow all health and safety guidelines directed by state and local governments to complete service requests. These guidelines include wearing face masks and PPE at all times, completing requests in an efficient manner to limit the time spent inside your home.
  • Maintaining an open line of communication with all residents to ensure they feel safe and comfortable during this time.
  • Essex knows that some residents have been impacted financially as a result of the COVID-19 virus and we are committed to providing our residents with the resources and flexibility to navigate these challenging times. If you have been financially impacted, we’ve compiled some key financial resources (via website) that could provide you substantial support and assistance during this unique time.

We are quickly and thoroughly altering the way that we operate our communities, interact with each other, and support our customers to meet the moment. Your well-being, and that of our team members, is our top priority. Here’s what we’re doing to help protect everyone in our communities:

  • Our AVB Commitment to Clean program leaves your apartment ready for move-in. We wait at least 24 hours – and up to 72 hours – before cleaning and disinfecting all homes after the previous resident moves out. This service is performed by an associate wearing full PPE – including mask, gloves, and booties – and covers all apartment surfaces, paying close attention to the over 30 areas noted below.
  • Face coverings are required in common areas and our associates are required to wear them anywhere they may interact with others.
  • Reduced occupancy and plexiglass installed in shared spaces to promote social distancing.
  • Frequent cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch surfaces in common areas and amenities.
  • Daily health screenings and attendance logs for our associates.
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers available in many shared spaces.

Our purpose at Equity Residential is creating communities where people thrive. We know that in order to thrive, however, our residents must first feel safe. In all eight of our markets from coast to coast, we are implementing changes in our communities:

  • Cleaning and disinfecting protocols now focus on high-touch surfaces.
  • Furniture and equipment are spaced to support six feet of distancing in all shared spaces.
  • All apartments will be cleaned and disinfected prior to move-in.
  • Air-filtration systems are being enhanced in our fitness centers and leasing offices.
  • All employees will undergo symptom screening daily, before starting to work.
  • Employees, residents, and visitors are required to wear face coverings in all shared spaces.
  • Our tours are personalized to your comfort level, with self-guided and virtual options available.
  • Protocols are in place for when our teams need to enter our residents’ homes, including enhanced protective personal equipment.
